Valerie Wynn, Macon-Bibb County Commissioner for District 1, held her first public forum on Thursday, October 18, 2018 at Turning Point at Mabel White Baptist Church (1415 Bass Road). This was her first public forum as a Commissioner, and about 50-60 people from across the county attended.

In attendance at the forum to help answer questions were Engineering Department Director David Fortson, Solid Waste Director Kevin Barkley, Emergency Management Agency Director Spencer Hawkins, Tax Commissioner Wade McCord, and County Clerk of Commission Janice Ross. They talked about road and bridge repairs and maintenance, the recent response to Hurricane Michael, property taxes and billing, and concerns and pending changes with collection of garbage, recycling, and yard waste.

“We had a great turnout, and I want to thank people for showing an interest in their consolidated government,” says Commissioner Wynn. “We had some great discussions, and I look forward to having another one in the next several months.

Since Macon-Bibb County was created on January 1, 2014, Commissioners have routinely held public forums to provide people an update and give them a chance to ask questions. This will be Commissioner Wynn’s first forum since becoming a Commissioner earlier this year, and she has made a point to attend many community events.
