In August, Macon-Bibb County Public Works installed four asphalt speed bumps along Nisbet Drive in an effort to slow down traffic through the neighborhood. The Facilities Management Department helped by striping the speed bumps and installing warning signs about them. This week, the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office had a speed detection device set on Nisbet to show people how fast they were going.

“We should be responsive to our neighborhoods and find ways to make the roads safer,” says Mayor Pro Tem Tillman, who met with residents along with Traffic Engineer Nigel Floyd and the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office late in 2017 to discuss their concerns with speeding issues. After a review by the Engineering Department, the five speed reduction installations were determined to be the best way to meet the neighborhood’s concerns.
