The Dr. Martin Luther King Commission is planning multiple events in 2018 to recognize and celebrate the legacy of Reverend Doctor Martin Luther King, Jr. A full listing of events, as well as video features from past events, can be found on the Commission’s website; check back frequently as events will be added as they are scheduled.
The first event will be the Emancipation Proclamation Program on January 1 at 12:00 p.m. at New Pleasant Grove Baptist Church (795 Maynard Street). The annual community march will begin at 11:00 a.m. on January 15, 2018, and converge at Government Center (700 Poplar Street) from four different directions (listed below).

The Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission was created to promote understanding and acceptance of nonviolence and human equality as a way of building community among all citizens of Macon-Bibb County by commemorating the work and life of the civil rights leader.
