Thanksgiving hours of operation for government offices, services

Macon-Bibb County Government offices will be closed on Thanksgiving, and the following day to allow employees to spend time with their families. The Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, and E911 will all remain in operation as usual.

Tropical Storm Irma debris collection will halt from Thursday, November 23, through Sunday, November 26. Pick up will resume Monday, November 27.

For garbage and recycling collection, there will not be any pickups on Thanksgiving day, and normal Thursday collections will be gathered on Friday. Friday collections will be gathered Saturday. The Walker Road Landfill will close on Thursday the 23rd, and Friday the 24th, but will be open Saturday the 25th from 8 a.m. to 12 p.m.

Macon-Bibb Animal Welfare shelter will be closed for adoptions and intake on Thanksgiving Day. They’ll be open for adoptions only, from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Friday, November 24, and 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. on Saturday, November 25.
