The new Senior Citizens Center, set to be built on Willie Smoker Glover Drive in Central City Park, will be named after District 3 Commissioner Elaine Lucas. District 2 Commissioner Rabbi Larry Schlesinger sponsored the resolution, saying she’s played a primary role in keeping the discussions on this senior center alive, and calling it “her baby.” You can watch commissioner remarks on the naming by going to the 38:47 mark of this commission meeting video.

Construction of the Senior Center will be paid for with $2,229,000 in voter-approved penny tax funds. You can read more on the plans for the center by clicking here.
