Public Works Department hosting food drive

This year, the Public Works Department wanted to reach out and support the community during the holiday season, so they are collecting food from December 7-15 for the Middle Georgia Food Bank.

They will be collecting dry goods only (boxes and cans, nothing refrigerated) at their offices at 4520 Knight Road, and the Food Bank will pick them up the afternoon of Friday, December 16. Anyone can drop off food at the Public Works offices between 7:00 a.m. and 5:30 p.m.

“Our crews wanted to help a local organization that supported people in need at Christmas, and we’re hoping a lot of people come by our offices and help us support the Food Bank,” says Public Works Director Marvin Land.

To encourage donations, Land is holding a competition among the different crews. There will be a different collection point for each crew, and the crew with the most weight will win a prize from Land.
