Macon-Bibb County’s Earth Day Festival for 2016 brought thousands of people to Tattnall Square Park for a day of fun and education. This year’s celebration had a theme of ‘Trees for the Earth’ and featured dozens of vendors from farmers to gardeners to people just looking to make the world around us a better place.

There was a Kids’ Zone where the little ones could rack up points to get prizes, make fun crafts, learn about the earth, and exercise! One of the most popular places for the children, however, was with the Southeastern Reptile Rescue where they could pet a live snake and get up close with all sorts of creatures. And for the grownups, there were classes, plenty of shopping, and even massages.

This year’s theme also tied into the celebration of Macon-Bibb County planting more than 1,000 trees over the past 4 years. To see a video of the 1,000th tree being planted, click here.
