Representatives from Macon-Bibb County, NewTown Macon, the Urban Development Authority, and downtown businesses will welcome Uber to Middle Georgia at a press conference on Wednesday, May 11, at 3:00 p.m. in Rosa Parks Square. Luke Marklin, General Manager of Uber Atlanta, and several local Uber drivers will be in attendance to talk about the service’s expansion into Middle Georgia and how people can request rides and even become drivers.

“When we talk about being a hub city, that includes being the center of a transit network with multiple ways for people to get around, from bike lanes to sidewalks and trails to mass transit to services like Uber,” says Macon-Bibb County Mayor Robert Reichert.

“The more transit options we have, the less people will have to drive their own cars, meaning we’ll have more people walking around Downtown instead of driving short distances,” says NewTown Macon President & CEO Josh Rogers.
