Study to strengthen the Macon Levee System coming

April 14, 2016

Nearly a million dollars will go into determining how to strengthen Macon-Bibb’s levee system. Macon-Bibb Commissioners at its April 5 meeting approved accepting a $521,590 grant from the Department of the Army, and matching that with $421,590 from Macon-Bibb.

The forthcoming feasibility study is expected to identify potential weak areas in the levee, or areas that could present a problem in a flooding situation, and make possible projects that would strengthen it or fix portions that need it.
