The Macon-Bibb Commission has started the process of working on the list of projects that could potentially be funded by the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST). At the February 16 Commission meeting, it was agreed they would hold public forums, meet with stakeholders, and take other necessary steps to finalize a project list that would go to the public for a vote in November.

The current penny tax started April 1, 2012, and will end in March 2018. It has made possible many projects including park and recreation improvements, a new Animal Welfare Center, a new Juvenile Justice Center, courthouse improvements, road and stormwater system upgrades and repairs, economic development projects, and much more. Visit http://splost.info to learn about the projects completed or in process that are part of the current SPLOST.
