Offices closed, garbage collection delayed due to holiday

Macon-Bibb County offices will be closed on Monday, January 18, 2016, in recognition of Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. as the community celebrates the civil rights leader’s life and legacy. Emergency services will be maintained.

Due to offices being closed, collection of garbage, yard waste, and recycling will run a day behind from Tuesday through Saturday. If your regular collection day is Monday, then it will be picked up Tuesday, and if your regular collection day is Friday, it will be picked up Saturday.

Throughout the weekend, the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission is hosting or supporting several events to honor the civil rights leader, including the annual March to Government Center, a 5K race, a student oratorical contest, youth concert, and more.
