The annual Dr. Martin Luther King Day march will be held in Macon-Bibb County on Monday, January 18, beginning at 11:00 a.m. People will gather at the Booker T. Washington Community Center, Rosa Jackson Community Center, Frank Johnson Recreation Center, and Memorial Gymnasium before walking to and gathering at Government Center (700 Poplar Street).

The March will be part of an entire weekend of events hosted or supported by the Dr. Martin Luther King, Jr. Commission to celebrate and remember the life and legacy of the civil rights leader. Other events include a 5k race, student oratorical contest, youth concert, and more.

“We come together each year with many organizations and churches to celebrate Dr. King, and the number of people that march with us is a true testament to his lasting vision,” says Macon-Bibb County District 3 Commissioner Elaine Lucas.
