Macon Mental Health Matters works every day to make sure our people are doing well. You can find an activity almost every day of the week that will help you de-stress and take care of yourself, such as Macon it Happen Mondays taking place at the Booker T. Washington Community Center (404 Monroe Street) every Monday from 10:00 a.m. until noon.
For the next several weeks, you can take part in Knitting and Counseling. You’ll be able to create something beautiful while talking about your feelings and thoughts with a counselor and other people with similar experiences.
“I started knitting because I was depressed and had anxiety, and it was one of the things that really helped me unwind and be able to express my feelings,” said Knitting and Counseling Instructor Paige Reeves. “It gives your hands something to do and engages your brain, and you’re more willing to talk.”
The class welcomes everyone and anyone. It does not matter if you have never knitted before or are already an expert. The goal is to give you a safe space to escape from your daily challenges and show you a skill that could help you every day.
