Survivors of domestic violence and their children are invited to a Macon Violence Prevention focus group hosted by Crisis Line & Safe House of Central Georgia and facilitated by Macon Mental Health Matters. It also aims to aid in planning for the Family Justice Center. The meeting is at 6:30 p.m. on Thursday, September 23, 2021. Participants will be able to share their stories, discuss their struggles, and celebrate their survival. A child victim advocate will be there to assist with childcare, and Crisis Line will provide dinner for attendees.
In the interest of safety for those valued voices who will be attending, the location will only be given to those who register ahead of time. There is no cost to attend, and you can register here: https://forms.gle/qSVDZoKyti9yFaur9.
To respect their privacy and provide them a space where they feel they can talk freely, this event will only be open to people who are survivors of domestic violence, and their children. It will not be open to the media.
This meeting follows a series of public MVP forums across the community and an online survey allowing people to share their ideas and concerns about curbing crime in Macon-Bibb. More than one thousand people attended those forums and several hundred surveys were submitted. To learn about other upcoming events and to sign up and get involved, visit www.maconviolenceprevention.org or follow the MVP: Macon Violence Prevention Facebook page.
