On Saturday, September 18, Macon Mental Health Matters will hold its first Parenting Enhancement Class at the Booker T. Washington Community Center (401 Monroe Street) from 10:00 a.m. – 11:00 a.m.
The classes will be a cohort to build support within the parenting community. They will learn additional techniques for managing challenging behaviors, coping skills for parents, and increasing positive parent-child interactions. Classes will be offered in person and online.
The first class will accept ten parent registrations either in person or online, and up to eight children who are 3 years old and up. Brunch will be served for registered parents and children. You can register here. In-person classes will be offered every Saturday and online classes will be offered simultaneously.
“We want to give parents, both experienced and new, a safe space to learn some useful techniques for managing parental stress, relationship building with their children, and opportunities for building community,” said The Southern Center for Choice Theory Director of Development Andrea Cooke. “We are hoping to create better systems of care for families in our community.”
The classes will be led by Cooke, Gloria Cisse, Nomsa Sibeko Brown, and Stephanie Johnson. To learn more about Macon Mental Health Matters, click here.
