On Thursday, June 17, Mayor Lester Miller presented Atrium Health Navicent with a proclamation declaring June as Men’s Health Month.
The proclamation is aimed to bring awareness to men’s health as research shows men continue to live an average of five years less than women, with Native American and African American men having the lowest life expectancy. Educating the public and health care providers about the importance of a health lifestyle and early detection of male health problems could reduce rates of mortality from disease.
