Some neighborhoods are not waiting until the next Clean Streets Matter community-wide cleanup. They have already taken the initiative to continue to have cleanups at least once a month.
On Saturday, June 5, the Historic Vineville Neighborhood Association and Napier Heights Neighborhood came together to clean up the area around the Vineville Avenue and Pio Nono Avenue intersection.
“It really let me know and the people that came with me that we are really more alike than we are different,” said Andrea Cooke, Napier Heights resident. “We are going to continue to clean up together.”
After cleaning up, both neighborhoods attended an event at the Oak Haven Park for the Blue & White Party.
“It’s important that we work together for a common purpose,” said Trixy Hanson, Historic Vineville Neighborhood Association Vice President. “Strong neighborhoods will make a stronger Macon. Working together will make us stronger.”
Both neighborhoods plan to participate in the community-wide cleanup on July 24.
