You can now sign up for the second Clean Streets Matter County-Wide cleanup happening Saturday, July 24!

Mayor Lester Miller, Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful Executive Director Caroline Childs, and other community leaders encourage everyone to take part in the clean up during a Clean Streets Matter press conference at City Hall.

It’s all part of the Mayor’s Clean Streets Matter initiative, which he announced in January. Since then, Macon-Bibb County and Macon Water Authority crews have removed more than 2.6 million pounds of trash from illegal dump sites and cleared more than 3.6 million pounds of yard waste. At the first community cleanup, 1,500 people in 80 groups picked up more than 109,000 pounds of trash were picked up.

“This is not a one and done. We’re going to continue this every quarter,” said Mayor Miller. “We’re going to continue this effort until we clean up all of Macon-Bibb County.”

“We really want to engage all partners, organizations, businesses, and community members, and encourage them to sign up,” said Childs.

Once groups sign up for July’s cleanup, they will receive trash grabbers, gloves, safety vests, and bags. Groups should also let KMBB know an address where County crews can pick up the bags.
