The Macon-Bibb County Commission voted on Tuesday, December 16, to approve engineering design services for sidewalk improvements along Third Street, moving forward plans to enhance walkability and curb appeal in downtown Macon.
The design work will be performed by Hodges, Harbin, Newberry & Tribble, Inc. (HHNT) at a cost of $82,895 and will be funded through 2025 SPLOST funds allocated for roadwork and related improvements.
The project will focus on Third Street between Walnut Street and Plum Street and is a partnership between Macon-Bibb County and the Urban Development Authority. This phase of the project will produce detailed design drawings needed before construction can begin.
The planned improvements are intended to make the Third Street corridor more pedestrian-friendly while supporting continued downtown revitalization efforts.
