We are gearing up for our first County-wide Cleanup of the year. Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful announced the cleanup will be Saturday, April 2, and is now asking people to begin registering with them. By registering, you will have access to pickers, trash bags, and safety vests, and city crews will better know where to pick up the bags on Monday and Tuesday.
During the three cleanups in the first year, our community and neighbors picked up more than 215,000 pounds of trash, litter, and debris. Adding that to what our departments, and other community members did since the announcement of our Clean Streets Matter initiative in 2021, more than 20 million pounds of trash, litter, and debris was removed from our streets.
“When we first met with Mayor Miller, we talked about how we’re going to tackle litter and trash in our community and how organizations can come together. I never in a million years imagined we could do all of this,” said Caroline Childs, former KMBB Director. “This is truly incredible and we’re very thankful to the community for all of their support.”
