- 13th Annual Kids Fishing Derby

- Saturday, June 2. Registration begins at 6 am., fishing at 7 a.m., weigh-in at 10:30 a.m.
- Site of the Fishing Derby is at 150 Broach Lane off Upper River Road
The Kids Fishing Derby is held each year to provide an opportunity for outdoor recreation for local families, through public education on the importance of protecting and preserving drinking water resources.
Children and Youth between the ages of 3 and 16 are eligible to compete in the 13th Annual MWA Kids Fishing Derby. Prizes will be awarded for the largest fish caught by contestants in four age group categories, in addition to a grand prize for the Biggest Catch of the Day.
Admission is free, and refreshments will be provided. Additional gifts will be provided through a raffle at no cost to guests.
Children and their adult guests can fish the entire day for free, until the reservoir closes at 3:00 p.m. The MWA Kids Fishing Derby is held on one of the few days during the year that the Georgia Department of Natural Resources allows fishing without a permit, to encourage family participation in the sport.
The MWA Kids Fishing Derby is an annual event that is supported by the Macon Water Authority and the Macon Water Alliance, which is a Georgia Non-Profit Corporation dedicated to providing environmental education and water resource-focused assistance for the citizens of Middle Georgia.
