#30in30: We did it! Now what?

Only 21 days into our 30 in 30 campaign, our Public Works crews and local contractors have torn down 31 burned and blighted houses, but they’re not done, yet!

In April, Mayor Lester Miller announced the #30in30 campaign, setting a goal of demolishing 30 blighted houses in 30 days. While this represented an aggressive push to remove blight from our neighborhoods, crews went above and beyond to make our streets safer…and this is just the beginning.

“We all know that blight is not only an eyesore, it hurts economic development, it creates crime, and it causes people to lose hope,” said Mayor Lester Miller. “We’re in the business of providing hope to people, giving opportunities for everyone in Macon-Bibb County. This is a first small step in that process.”

The fight against blight is far from over. Code Enforcement already has about 50 more houses ready or being prepared for demolition. The next list will be announced next week during a press conference that will be broadcast live at www.facebook.com/maconbibbcounty. Stay tuned for details on the day and time!
