Macon – Bibb County grand jurors indicted a 28-year-old Macon man Tuesday in the rape of a woman in east Macon Feb. 5 and the attempted rape of another woman on the same day.

Jamal Chris Rowe is charged with rape, criminal attempt to commit rape, two counts of burglary and three counts of aggravated assault, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.

Rowe allegedly threatened one of the women with a knife and raped her. He is accused of holding the other woman down while he tried to open a condom wrapper, according to an indictment.

Rowe is accused forcing his way into the homes of both women and choking them during the attacks.

An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial.  Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
