For the fourth year, the Macon-Bibb County Parks & Recreation Department will hold a Summer Movie Series and show movies outside in several parks around the community. Movies will begin once the sun sets that evening, and families can bring chairs, blankets, and coolers of food and drink. Parks & Recreation will have free popcorn and snow cones for people to enjoy. In the event of rain or other bad weather, movies will be cancelled.

Date Movie Location
Friday, June 24 Home Sandy Beach Park
Friday, July 15 Ali Georgia Sports Hall of Fame
Friday, July 22 Zootopia Rosa Parks Square

The July 22 showing of Zootopia will also be a chance for people to meet the public safety departments and offices, including the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, Fire Department, Animal Welfare, and Emergency Management Agency. The July 30 showing of Zootopia will coincide with National Parks and Recreation Month, and will also feature bounce houses, face painting, live music, and concessions.

Holding outdoor movies is part of Macon-Bibb County’s Forward Together Strategic Plan to improve the quality of life for all people. By holding these types of free events, the Parks & Recreation Department wants to bring people together and help create a sense of place and community.
