Beginning Tuesday, July 26, Hollingsworth Road between Log Cabin Drive and Emily Street will be closed so a storm drain can be installed and the pavement base prepared for the upcoming road and intersection realignment. This work is part of an ongoing $1.5 million road and safety improvement project funded by the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST).
While that portion is closed, drivers should use Emily Street to get between Hollingsworth Road and Log Cabin Drive. Hollingsworth Road should reopen in approximately three weeks with crushed stone; another closure will be scheduled in the future so crews can pave the road.
“The residents of the Bellevue neighborhood have a lot to look forward thanks to the SPLOST,” says Macon-Bibb County District 9 Commissioner Al Tillman. “Connected to this safety project is the new Filmore Thomas Park, which we’re creating with more than $1.7 in SPLOST funding.”
