It’s a community’s dream more than three decades in the making, and with a groundbreaking on December 16, the dream came one step closer to reality. Filmore Thomas Park is under construction in Macon-Bibb County’s Bellevue neighborhood on Log Cabin Drive, where many of Filmore Thomas’ family members still live.

“This ground is ground that we could not even stand on when I was a child. It was white-only; somewhere we couldn’t even come- and now for it to be named Filmore Millard Thomas Park, is an honor,” says Harold E. Thomas, son of Filmore Thomas.
