Teaching Macon-Bibb residents to use a fire extinguisher is now easier than ever. Our Fire Prevention Department just received a BullEx Digital Fire Extinguisher Training System worth more than $15,000. It came from Firehouse Subs’ Public Safety Foundation. Fire Safety Educator Jeremy Webb demonstrated the system at a presentation on Tuesday, March 28 at the Firehouse Subs on Presidential Parkway.

The system looks kind of like a TV screen, and the operator uses a remote to select what type of fire to use. Once selected, the operator uses the special digital fire extinguisher to douse the flames. Our fire officials say tools like this can save lives because it’s an interactive way to teach anyone the correct way to fight fire in an emergency.

The Firehouse Subs Public Safety foundation was founded after Hurricane Katrina to help communities rebuild, and to support our first responders. Since its inception, the organization has granted more than $25 million dollars to help responders and heroes all over our nation. At the presentation here in Macon-Bibb, Firehouse Subs officials also gave equipment to the Dublin, McRae-Helena, and Dodge County fire departments as well.
