The Middle Georgia Regional Airport is holding its first-ever Open House on May 6 from 10:00 a.m. – 4:00 p.m. This free event will allow the public to see a different side of the airport and learn about a variety of planes, helicopters, and emergency response vehicles that support aviation. There will also be food trucks for people to enjoy!
“Think of this as a touch-a-truck event for an airport,” says Airport Manager Erick D’Leon. “We want to show people what happens in the airspace around Middle Georgia, from military flights to private planes to emergency response.”
Attendees include Middle Georgia State University, Falcon Flight Academy, Warner Robins Museum of Aviation, Robins Aero Club, Georgia Forestry Commission, Georgia State Patrol, Georgia Department of Natural Resources, Civil Air Patrol, Air Evac, Experimental Aircraft Association, Lowe Aviation, Thrush Aircraft, Candler Field Flying Club, Angel Flight, and a variety of private and corporate aircraft.
There will be demonstrations from the Georgia Forestry Aviation Unit, Airport Fire Department and the Macon-Bibb Explosive Ordinance Disposal Unit. People will also be able to learn about different types of aviation programs in the area and how students can begin to pursue an exciting career in aviation.
