Summer camp is back for our community after shutting down last year due to COVID-19. Enrollment has already begun, and staff is working hard to make this as safe and fun as possible for everyone.

“We were devastated last year, but knew it was for the best. Now, everyone is really excited to get the community back into the centers, get them active and moving,” says Recreation Programmer Dominique Lewis.

The six-week camp begins Tuesday, June 1 and runs through Friday, July 9 for children ages 5-15. There are seven locations this year, including Carolyn Crayton Park (formerly Central City Park) in place of Theron Ussery Park while it is undergoing renovations. The camp costs $180 for all six weeks or $30 per week.

“Our staff works diligently to provide a well-rounded summer camp,” says Lewis. “A variety of activities such as athletics, arts and crafts, educational enrichment, and outreach programs have been planned to benefit your child’s physical, social, and cognitive development.”

To keep everyone safe, staff will conduct temperature checks at the door, everyone will be required to wear masks, and hand sanitizer will be available throughout the centers.
