This week, we’re shining our Staff Spotlight on Legal Assistant Sheila Griggs for her tremendous work ethic throughout the years.

Griggs was born and raised in Muskegon, Michigan and moved to Macon-Bibb County in 2010. She started working for the City of Macon as a Human Resources Assistant before being promoted to Assistant to the Clerk of City Council. A few years later, Griggs decided to change gears a bit, and became a Legal Assistant with the Macon-Bibb County Attorney’s Office, earning her Paralegal Certification in December 2020.

“I love working with the Attorneys, various vendors, departments, and my co-workers,” said Griggs. “The variety that my day brings is always amazing.”

“Sheila has been a very valuable asset to the Budget and Grants department over time,” said Sherita Sims-Jones with the Budget and Strategic Planning Department. “She consistently moves along our grants and outside agency contracts while communicating with the vendors. We really appreciate her work ethics and courtesy follow ups to ensure her job is done…which also means our job is done.”

Griggs is gearing up for another career challenge later this month. She will be taking on a new role as the Executive Assistant to the Clerk of Superior Court.

“For the past seven years, Sheila has been the backbone of the County Attorney’s Office,” said Senior Assistant County Attorney Michael McNeill. “Sheila is an absolute MVP, and deserves all the recognition and praise we can heap upon her.”
