At the end of July Macon-Bibb’s County Manager, Dr. Keith Moffett, was notified he would become an International City Managers’ Association’s (ICMA) Credentialed Manager. This was done after ICMA’s Executive Board approved the recommendations of its Credentialing Advisory Board. Throughout the next year, Dr. Moffett must complete identified professional development activities and complete an annual report by June 30, 2021.

“It’s an honor to be recognized by my peers as an effective local government manager, and that I will continue to find ways to better serve my community through local government,” says Dr. Moffett. “It demonstrates my adherence of integrity and ethics to serve the public and maintain their trust.”

“Dr. Moffett has served Macon-Bibb honorably and with the highest standards for many years, and I’ve enjoyed watching him grow through a variety of roles,” says Mayor Robert Reichert. “I’m delighted he has earned this recognition, and more so, I’m honored he has continued to serve Macon-Bibb.”

In order to become a Credentialed Manager, Dr. Moffett:

• • Served 8 years in a senior leadership role;
• • Completed the Carl Vinson Institute of Government Certified Public Manager certification program;
• • Completed leadership courses through the Association County Commissioners of Georgia; and
• • Submitted a professional development plan.

About the Voluntary Credentialing Program

The ICMA Voluntary Credentialing Program recognizes professional local government managers qualified by a combination of education and experience, adherence to high standards of integrity, and an assessed commitment to lifelong learning and professional development. Managers are recognized by ICMA through a peer review credentialing process, and this self-directed program offers an opportunity for interested ICMA members to quantify the unique expertise they bring to their communities.

The program also assists ICMA members in focusing and reflecting upon their lifelong professional development experience. Members who participate in the program may earn the designation of ICMA Credentialed Manager granted by the ICMA Executive Board. ICMA Credentialed Managers are viewed with growing distinction by local governing bodies and progressive, civically engaged communities.

Becoming a Credentialed Manager is a:

• • Demonstration of adherence to high standards of integrity;
• • Demonstration of commitment to lifelong learning;
• • Having a structure and focused professional development plan;
