At the October 5 Fire Prevention Week event, Interim Fire Chief Shane Edwards announced that firefighter Jordan Bonbrake is this year’s Rookie of the Year. He’s with Station 3 and was caught by surprise with the award.

“I didn’t even know this award existed! I’ve been with the Department for about two years. I’ve just been working hard, doing what’s asked of me, and helping everybody I can.” says Bonbrake. ”I love this job. It’s an honor to serve and protect my community.”

“Firefighter Jordan Bonbrake has proven to be one of the Rookie Firefighters who continues to give 110% at everything he does. He has persevered through several challenges and  has the stick-to-itiveness to become a Great Firefighter. He’s definitely an energetic person who will get the job done, probably before the rest!” Says Chief Edwards. “Because of Firefighters with Bonbrake’s traits, we continue to remain the Best of the Best and a Class 1 Fire Department.”
