At the Macon-Bibb County Commission Meeting on December 3, 2019, Pastor Kelsey Stillwell from First Baptist Church of Christ delivered the prayer.

Kelsey Stillwell is the Associate Pastor of Youth and Missions at First Baptist Church of Christ. She received her MDiv from the McAfee School of Theology in Atlanta with a focus in Global Christianity. She is from Kentucky and has lived in Macon just over a year.

Jacqueline and Carmen Exum led the Pledge of Allegiance at tonight’s Commission Meeting

Jacqueline Exum is the daughter of Jay and Michille Exum. She is a freshman at Central High School and in the International Baccalaureate program. She is a member of the chorus as well. She has been a member of Mercer University’s Youth Choir for 10 years and participates in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Delta Academy and Delta GEMS. Jacqueline enjoys playing soccer, singing and is an active member of Abundant Word of Grace Church. She has been a member of Girl Scout Troop 60206 for 10 years.

Carmen Exum is also the daughter of Jay and Michille Exum. She is a Junior at Central High School. At Central, Carmen is in the International Baccalaureate program. She is the stage manager for the Drama Club and plays in the orchestra. She has been a member of Girl Scout Troop 60206 for 12 years. Carmen has also been a member of Mercer University’s Youth Choir for 10 years and participates in Delta Sigma Theta Sorority’s Delta Academy and Delta GEMS Youth Initiative. She is an active member of Abundant Word of Grace Church.

Consent Agenda

Commissioners approved an alcohol license for 74 Package at 5451 Thomaston Road. Read more about it here.

Old Business

Commissioners approved several appointments and reappointments to boards. Click each one for more information.

The Board approved $400,000 in federal HOME funds for major repairs to Vineville Christian Towers, pending successful allocation of Low Income Housing Credits from the Georgia Department of Community Affairs.

Commissioners approved an amendment to the intergovernmental agreement related to the planned expansion of the new Irving Consumer Products, Inc. facility.

The Board approved issuing a Request for Proposals to find a firm to conduct a study of salaries, benefits, and job classifications.

Commissioners accepted a $50,000 Georgia Smart Communities Challenge Grant from the Georgia Institute of Technology to fund the Smart Neighborhood MBC program. The Board also approved a budget amendment to provide for the local match to that grant.

The Board approved a budget amendment for the Tax Commissioner’s Office to hire a temporary contract employee. 

Commissioners approved a supplemental appropriation for Lake Tobesofkee to pay for maintenance of Sandy Beach Waterpark, algae removal, and vehicle repairs.

The board approved office space lease for the Cooperative Extension. They are located at 127, 129, and 145 First Street.

Commissioners also approved the 24th Amendment to the 2018 SPLOST Project Timeline and Budget. This is dealing with funds for Filmore Thomas Park, and the Jeffersonville Road and Bass Road projects.
