Pickleballers in Macon-Bibb, especially those in the western parts of the county, are already taking full advantage of the new pickleball courts at Lake Tobesofkee!

“These courts are tremendous,” said Macon Pickleball Ambassador John “JR” Roberts. “Not only are they beautiful with a beautiful vista, but they serve an area in Macon-Bibb that has sort of been underserved in the pickleball community.”

These courts join the list of other courts in our County, such as Tattnall Square Pickleball Center, John Drew Smith Tennis Center, and Randy Stephens Tennis Center.

The four new courts are at Sandy Beach Park and overlook beautiful Lake Tobesofkee. They are part of the lake’s recent upgrade and improvements which  include an enclosed pavilionthree new pavilions, and renovated bathrooms. It also included upgraded bathrooms and the pavilion at Claystone Park, an addition to recently completed projects

“Pickleball has really been on the rise,” said Shan Towns, the Office Manager at Lake Tobesofkee Recreation Area. “We have church groups that are actively coming out, and they’re ready as soon as those gates open. These courts are great because they give our community something else to do at Lake Tobesofke.

Roberts is looking forward to the Macon Pickleball Association possibly hosting pickleball events at Sandy Beach Park in the future, especially with the newly renovated pavilion. If you would like to learn more about the Macon Pickleball Association, click here.
