On Thursday, May 25, people that served on the USS Macon held their 23rd reunion at various locations throughout the city. This was the second time they had held the reunion here. You can see pictures from their visit to Government Center by clicking here.
During their visit, they spent time at the Washington Library studying artifacts and articles before traveling to Government Center to see the replica of the ship on display and to meet with Mayor Reichert. To thank him for hosting them, they presented him with a piece of planking from the USS Macon and official reunion shirt, hat, pen, and lapel pin. Organizers noted there were two men in the group who helped commission the USS Macon in 1945.
