Macon – Bibb County grand jurors voted Tuesday to indict a man and a woman in the January 2019 death of 1-year-old King Henderson.

Akym Malek Henderson, 22, and Jaimie Lynn Howard, 20, both of Macon, each are charged with murder in the second degree and cruelty to children in the second degree. Henderson is additionally charged with felony murder, according to the indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.

Henderson is accused of causing “cruel and excessive physical and mental pain by inflicting non-accidental blunt force trauma” to the boy’s head. Howard is accused of failing to intervene to prevent the injury, according to the indictment.

Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until he/she is proven guilty in a court of law.
