Macon – A man who robbed a shopper in the parking lot of Macon’s Home Depot in November was sentenced to 15 years, 10 of them in prison Wednesday afternoon.
Quantarius Antwon Ross, 19, pleaded guilty to armed robbery during a hearing in Bibb County Superior Court. Ross, who was 18 at the time of the robbery, must serve his entire 10-year prison sentence without the possibility of parole.
If the case had gone to trial, prosecutor John Regan would have presented evidence showing:
A 59-year-old man was in the parking lot of Home Depot, 4635 Presidential Parkway, at about 8:30 p.m. on Nov. 30 when he was approached by three teenagers with guns who demanded money. The man gave the gunmen $150 and they ran behind the store. One of the teenagers was later identified as Ross. Cases against two other teenagers charged in the incident – both aged 15 at the time – remain pending.
Speaking after the hearing, Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney David Cooke said, “At a time when other young people his age are donning their caps and gowns, Mr. Ross chose a prison uniform and a graduation to prison. I hope this will be the end of his criminal career, and he uses this time to reflect on making better choices for his life and our community.”
