Macon-Bibb Hosts Georgia State Golden Gloves Championships

See the best in the state prepare for Olympic Qualifying! The Macon–Bibb United Boxing & Conditioning Club presents the 2015 Georgia State Championship Golden Gloves Tournament. It will be held February 14-15 and 21-22 – with bouts beginning at noon – at the Bishop Frank Ray Arena at Freedom Park Community Center. Throughout the week, the Club provides training for people interested in boxing or wanting to get in shape. Each day, there are classes and programs for members of all ages.

Boxing & Conditioning Club Training Schedule

Youth Training Ages 9-16 Monday – Friday 3:30 – 5:00 p.m.
Co-Ed Cardio Boxing All members Monday – Friday 5:00 – 6:00 p.m.
Team Training Macon United Team Monday – Friday 6:00 – 8:00 p.m.

 

With funds from the voter-approved Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax (SPLOST), the gymnasium at Freedom Park was converted into the Bishop Frank Ray Arena, featuring two rings, 600 bleacher seats, new flooring, and more. Parks and Recreation has also released its monthly newsletter of activities, and it includes information adult softball registration, special events at the Centers, arts and dance programs, computer classes, camps held during the School District’s Winter Break, basketball programs, and wellness classes.
