he Macon-Bibb Commission is holding four public forums to let people discuss which projects should be potentially funded with the next Special Purpose Local Option Sales Tax. The Commission will finalize that list this summer based on the feedback received, and it will be voted on by the public in November.
Below is a schedule for the remaining forums; each begins at 6:00 p.m. Anyone unable to attend a meeting can send suggestions for projects to splost2016@maconbibb.us.

or in process that are part of the current SPLOST.
During the forums, The Association of County Commissioners of Georgia (ACCG) will provide an overview of what a SPLOST is and what can be funded, and people will be able to ask questions about the current SPLOST projects and make suggestions for the future SPLOST.
At the first forum on May 12 at the Macon Mall, more than 60 people attended and talked about the need to improve recreation centers, extend the airport runway, improve bike and pedestrian safety, and build playgrounds. At the second forum on May 19 at the National Guard Armory on Shurling Drive, more than 30 people attended and talked about intersection and lighting improvements, renovations at the Grand Opera House, pedestrian and bike safety improvements on roads, the need for more parks and community centers, historic preservation, closure of the landfill, addressing blight, and more.
