“You start walking your way, I start walking mine. We’ll meet in the middle, ‘neath that old Georgia Pine. We’ll both gain a lot, if we each give a little. Ain’t no road too long, if we meet in the middle!”

Mayor Robert Reichert used the words from that song to kick off the first ‘Meet in the Middle’ cleanup for the Keep Macon-Bibb Beautiful and Keep Warner Robins Beautiful Commissions. In April, the two organizations, the Mayors from each, and more than 100 volunteers came to the county line on Highway 247 to pick up trash and talk about keeping our communities clean…together!

You can see more from the event in this MaconBibbTV feature.

It’s the first time for an event such as this one, and it coincided with the nation-wide ‘Great American Cleanup’ from Keep American Beautiful. After a short program highlighting the efforts to stay clean and green, both Mayor Reichert and Warner Robins Mayor Randy Toms got to work helping the volunteers cleanup both sides of the county line.

If you’d like to get involved, you can report litterbugs using the KMBBC Litter Hotline at (478) 330-7053, or visit their website. And to stay green at home, be sure to order your recycling bin today! You can do so by clicking here.
