At the June 19, 2018 Macon-Bibb County Commission Meeting, Reverend Anthony Center of Union Baptist Church delivered the invocation.

Two members of our 4H program, Kai Thomas and Zoe Economides, led the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Agenda Items

The board voted to approve an agreement between the county and the Community Enhancement Authority to operate the Little Richard House as a neighborhood resource center in the Pleasant Hill Neighborhood.

Commissioners approved the Procurement Department issuing a Request for Proposals for a Health Insurance Plan Administrator to include Stop Loss Coverage, Pharmacy Benefits management, and life, dental, disability, and vision plans. The Commission also requested the formation of a Health Care and Retirement Benefits Committee to help develop and make recommendations on a 457 Deferred Compensation Plan and a 401(A) Defined Contribution plan for new Macon-Bibb County employees. The board accepted 100 unregistered, paved roads for public use as part of the County Road System. You can see a list of those roads here. Pictured above (top to bottom) are Hillbrooke Court, Laura Ann Place, and Pine Valley Drive.

The Bragg Jam Concert Crawl is officially approved to happen on July 27 and 28! The downtown music festival is one of the most popular events each year. 2018 marks the 20th year of the event that honors the Bragg brothers. The board approved a resolution to submit the Macon-Bibb Five Year Short Term Work Program and Capital Improvement element to the Middle Georgia Regional Commission for compliance review. Click here to read more about it.

The Macon-Bibb County Fire Department is getting new turnout gear! Commissioners approved using $235,681.25 in voter-approved SPLOST funds to pay for it.

Commissioners voted to amend an existing agreement with Moreland Altobelli Associates for work on Jeffersonville (pictured above), Forest Hill, and Sardis Church roads.

An agreement was approved between the county and Stantec Consulting Services for planning and design of a sidewalk on Pine Hill Drive. This is a voter-approved SPLOST project. Read more about it here.

The board approved spending $150,000 from the IT Department Budget for a contract with Esri for Arcgis Software licenses for three years.

Commissioners renewed the lease agreement with the State Properties Commission for office space at 560 Oglethorpe Street.

There are new fees for parking, the boat launch, and facility rentals at Lake Tobesofkee’s parks. There’s also a summer parking pass available for the Sandy Beach Water Park. To get in on the fun in the sun and learn more, click here.

The commission voted to approve the Solicitor General to move $4,000 between line items in that budget.
