Pastor Willie Finney, Jr. of Smith Street Baptist Church led the invocation at the July 17 Macon-Bibb County Commission Meeting.

That was followed by Larry Howard and Jasmine Martin, members of our local 4H club, leading the crowd in the Pledge of Allegiance.

Our Emergency Management Agency Director, Spencer Hawkins, was recognized for winning the state’s 2018 Georgia Emergency Management Director of the Year. Click here to read more about Spencer and see a video from the announcement.

Agenda Items

Commissioners accepted an FY17 Edward Byrne Memorial Justice Assistance Grant in the amount of $67,000 to be used by the Bibb County Sheriff’s Office, the county drug court, and the Public Defender’s Office.

Commissioners voted to accept a $68,000 Peyton Anderson Foundation Grant for the Ocmulgee Crossing Tax Allocation District Master Plan. Click here to read more about it.

A new HVAC unit will be purchased for the E-911 Center. The unit is coming from Conditioned Air.

The commission approved an agreement with the Middle Georgia Community Action Agency to provide Congregant Senior Meal Services at the new Elaine H. Lucas Senior Center.

Software licenses are approved for the IT Department and the New World System it operates. You can read details on that agreement here.
