The following roads will be affected and closed temporarily for the funeral service and procession of Gregg Allman on Saturday, June 3, 2017, at 1:00 p.m. at Snow’s Memorial Chapel. The funeral service and burial will be private, per the family’s wishes.

Cherry Street from First Street west to New Street will be closed off beginning at 8:00 a.m. Saturday for the service. Other roads will be closed for the procession, which begins after the service.

There is no scheduled end time to the funeral, so please follow Bibb Sheriff’s Deputies if you’re driving in this area on Saturday afternoon. The roads will close after the funeral and reopen once the procession passes each intersection on its way to Rose Hill Cemetery. All media are requested to be in the staging area which will be in the parking lot next to Cokes Camera Shop at 735 Cherry Street (across from Snows Memorial Chapel). Media can enter the staging area from Mulberry Street onto New Street Lane which leads into the backside of the parking lot next to Cokes Camera.

The funeral procession will travel:

  • from Snow’s Memorial Chapel on Cherry Street east to First Street;
  • turn left and travel north on First Street to Riverside Drive;
  • turn left on Riverside Drive and travel west to the 1000 block of Riverside Drive; and
  • make a right into the entrance of Rose Hill Cemetery.

Fans and well-wishers are asked to line the streets along the procession route to pay respects as the it goes by.People lining the procession route to pay final respects are asked to stay on the sidewalks and do not step into the street. No vehicles are allowed to park on the procession route. Parking will be available in the open field in the 800 block of Riverside Drive, directly across the street from New Street at Riverside Drive. The second location is at 1090 Riverside Drive, a vacant car lot, east of Orange Street at Riverside Drive.

The only vehicles allowed into Rose Hill Cemetery will be those carrying family and friends attending the private service and burial. No vehicles will be allowed to park on the entrance road to Rose Hill Cemetery, and no pedestrian traffic will be allowed to stand on the entrance roadway into the cemetery. Any pedestrian traffic in  Rose Hill Cemetery are reminded the family’s wishes are to keep the burial private, and we want to respect the family’s wishes and remain at a respectful distance.
