The Macon-Bibb County Recreation Department and Macon Bacon will hold a free, one-day baseball camp on Saturday, July 14 from 8:30 a.m. – 1:00 p.m. at Historic Luther Williams Field. Children ages 8 – 16 will work with Macon Bacon players and staff from the Recreation Department on pitching, catching, hitting, and infield and outfield skills.

To register your child, contact the Recreation Department at (478) 621-6280 or click here. There are limited spots still open for registration, so register your child soon!

Participating children should bring bats, gloves, and water bottles; the Recreation Department will have a limited number of extra gloves and bats for children that don’t have their own. The first 75 children to check in Saturday morning will receive a commemorative t-shirt.

“This camp is so much more than just baseball; it’s giving kids the chance to get outside, make some new friends, and get some good exercise for a couple of hours,” says Athletics Coordinator Brittni Fletcher. “ We have kids of all ages and skill levels, and are super excited by the great response we got on the camp this year.”

“We are excited to bring back baseball to Macon, but most importantly, we understand our role as helping to introduce more and more children to the wonderful game of baseball!” says Todd Pund, Macon Bacon President. “Our organization is not only here to promote the Macon Bacon, but we are here to also help grow the game.”

The camp is part of the national United States Conference of Mayors’ (USCM) Play Ball Summer initiative, which focuses on the fun nature of baseball and encourages an active and healthy lifestyle for kids in all communities.
