Macon – Bibb County grand jurors indicted a former Macon weight loss clinic employee Tuesday on allegations she knowingly used the photocopied signature of another person to issue prescriptions and practiced medicine without a license in 2015.

Robin Jones Smith, 48, of Byron, also is accused of taking money and medication belonging to Metabolic Research Center.

Smith is charged with forgery in the first degree, theft by taking and practicing medicine without a license, according to an indictment filed in Bibb County Superior Court.

An indictment is a charging document issued by grand jurors if the group determines probable cause exists for the case to move forward toward trial.  Each defendant is presumed to be innocent unless and until they are proven guilty in a court of law.
