Lt. Gregory Beni named GSFA Company Officer of the Year

The Georgia State Firefighters Association (GSFA) recently recognized Lt. Gregory Beni of the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department as GSFA Company Officer of the Year. This recognition is given to a company officer who has showed leadership in the community. Lt. Beni was presented with his award during the 2016 Georgia Fire Service Conference awards ceremony on August 13, 2016, in Augusta-Richmond County.

Lt. Beni has been with the Macon-Bibb County Fire Department for the past 14 years and serves as an emergency medical and hazmat technician.  He has helped other co-workers by assisting them in all aspects of the job, from rules and regulations, street knowledge, operating fire apparatus and beyond.  He volunteers with the American Cancer Society and the Muscular Dystrophy Association.  Lt. Beni also received the valor award from GSFA in 2008 for an elevator rescue he was involved in.

Lt. Beni is associated with a local high school involving various activities and works to obtain donations for the facility.  In addition, he partners with an assisted living facility and teaches CPR.  He has recently earned an Associate’s degree in Applied Science/Fire Science from Columbia Southern University.   Lt. Beni’s passion for the fire service can be seen through all the people he has inspired and helped over the years. GSFA is proud to recognize Lt. Gregory Beni as GSFA Company Officer of the Year.

“We are pleased to continue the recognition of our fire service personal through our GSFA annual awards program,” said GSFA President Dean King. “The awards program has been identified as a prestigious honor amongst our fire service personal.”
