Arrest made in 1991 missing person case investigation

Macon – The GBI charged a woman with kidnapping Thursday as part of an investigation into a 1991 missing person case.

Melinda McSwain, 46, of Broxton, is charged with kidnapping in connection to the Sabrina Long missing person investigation. Long was last seen at her Macon home on Aug. 14, 1991.

The case, although nearly 30 years old, was assigned to a new GBI special agent for review in recent years. The Macon Judicial Circuit District Attorney’s Office has also been involved in the in the investigation over the years, most recently with prosecutor Dorothy Hull’s work in the past several months. Thursday’s arrest was the result of a continuing partnership between the GBI and the district attorney’s office.

The investigation is still active and ongoing. Anyone who has information about the case is asked to call the GBI at 478-987-4545 or the GBI TIPS Line at 1-800-597-8477.
