Everyone is invited to take a bike tour of some of Macon-Bibb’s newest or recently improved parks and greenspaces, including Tattnall Square Park, the Dog Park, Washington Park, Bernd Park, Daisy Park, and Oakhaven Park. The tour will end up in Oakhaven Park (at intersection of English and Oakhaven Avenues), where people will be enjoying an outdoor showing of The Avengers that will begin at dusk.
“We’ve made a great deal of improvement to our parks, and even created some new ones,” says Parks & Beautification Director Stephen Lawson. “We really want to show people all that’s been done, let them experience a great family activity in one, and hear from them what they’d like to see us do in the future.”
The tour is part of a series of events called the MACON CONNECTS Ideas Festival. From June 14-16, people will be able explore all possibilities for improving mobility and connections in Macon-Bibb. The ideas gathered from the festival’s events will be brought to life at the MACON CONNECTS Street Makeover on September 16 and 17. Residents will be able to see, feel, and experience what safer and more vibrant streets, sidewalks, and public spaces would be like in Macon-Bibb.
“We want to engage people in activities that promote a more connected and inclusive transportation network,” says Urban Development Authority Director Alex Morrison. “This will be a great way to see how Macon can become a more livable community while enjoying a great outdoor space and movie with your neighbors.”
