GDOT working on 16/75 interchange this week

The Georgia Department of Transportation has released information on roadwork occurring this week (Sept. 24 – Sept. 29) at the 16/75 interchange and surrounding areas. Here’s the details:

Phase 1

  • All week: Day-Storm Drain/Grading on the East side of I-16 between Spring Street and MLK
  • Tuesday/Wednesday (26 and 27): Night
  • Paving I-16 EB on and off ramps at MLK/Coliseum Drive
  • Paving I-16 WB on ramp at MLK/Coliseum Drive

Phase 1B

Contractor will begin working on the trench drain in Jefferson Long Memorial Park this week into next week. They will also resume working on the culvert next week. Continue to pour walls and place bricks in the park. Sidewalk has been poured Pursley St in the park.

Phase 2 and 3

Sun.  9/24/17:   

  • Night – Removal of south lane intermediate beams on Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Inside lanes closed on I-75 NB and SB from mile marker 163 to 164.

Mon. 9/25/17:  

  • Day – Placing shoring for culvert near the west side of Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Excavating for culvert near the west side of Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Placing storm drain pipe along I-75 NB just north of Riverside Drive.            
  • Setting panels and backfilling at Wall #2.
  • Night – Removal of south lane intermediate beams on Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Inside lanes closed on I-75 NB and SB from mile marker 163 to 164.

Tue – Fri 9/26-29/17:             

  • Placing shoring for culvert near the west side of Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Placing backfill for culvert near the west side of Walnut Street Bridge.
  • Placing storm drain pipe along I-75 NB just north of Riverside Drive.                           
  • Removal of intermediate bent substructure on Walnut Street Bridge.
